Richard’s on Main, established in 2001 is located in Downtown Peoria in the basement of the historic Apollo Theater. The Apollo Theater was built in the early 1910s, and was the first theater in town dedicated strictly to motion pictures. It operated until 1958 in that way. The back 70 feet of the theater was torn down to build the Niagra Parking deck. Out of a labor of love in 1988, the building’s owners restored the balcony area of the majestic theater to it’s former glory. A beautiful 166 seat theater now hosts an array of events.
